He was born on June 6, 1930, in rural Butler County, Iowa to Mann & Lena (Buss) Mennen. Melvin attended country schools in Butler County. Melvin is survived by his wife, two sons, three sisters, a sister-in-law, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ed Mennen, and one granddaughter Cassaundra. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the First Reformed Church of Bristow, with Pastor Mike Brost and Pastor Scott Summers officiating. Special music was provided by pianist, Barb Aalderks accomp-anying soloist, Francis Winko-witsch. Pallbearers were Ron Salge, Dalen Miller, Wendale Miller, Dennis Mennen, Dennis Wiegmann and Larry Wiegmann. Source: Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home
