Description	:	Melvin “Mel” Eisenbeisz was born May 24, 1931, to David and Juliana (Rohrbach) Eisenbeisz on a farm northeast of Hosmer, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Hosmer and attended country school. In 1948, Mel moved to Aberdeen and worked at the Ward Hotel during the day and played with many area bands in the evening. On June 11, 1950, Mel married Wilma Aipperspach in Hosmer. They farmed in the Hosmer area until they moved to Aberdeen. Read More	Melvin “Mel” Eisenbeisz was born May 24, 1931, to David and Juliana (Rohrbach) Eisenbeisz on a farm northeast of Hosmer, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Hosmer and attended country school. In 1948, Mel moved to Aberdeen and worked at the Ward Hotel during the day and played with many area bands in the evening. On June 11, 1950, Mel married Wilma Aipperspach in Hosmer. They farmed in the Hosmer area until they moved to Aberdeen. Mel was a car salesman for 40 years for Aberdeen Motors and The Chrysler Center. They had several other business adventures including: The Hill Top Café, DX Gas Station, and the Farmers Bar in Brentford. After Mel retired, he worked for the Aberdeen Parks Department. Mel was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and currently Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Moose Lodge in Aberdeen. Mel played for 42 years in many dance bands, and had his own band called “Mel’s Combo.” In 1997, Mel was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Dakota Musicians Association, held in Aberdeen. He loved horses, playing drums and selling cars. Grateful for having shared Mel’s life are his daughter, Sandi Eisenbeisz, three grandsons, four great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons, and step-great-grandchildren. Preceding Mel in death are his ex-wife, Wilma; parents: David and Juliana Eisenbeisz; one daughter: Patricia Moutray; a step-grandson, Eric; and his siblings: David Eisenbeisz, Mary Kallenberger, Katie Kaul, Christina Aman, and Martha Hardy.
