Read More	Melvin Starratt Himmelman 1985 Bridgewater Bulletin Melvin, age 67, of Petite Riviere, on the last hour of the date of November 26, he quietly passed away at the D.M. Hospital. Born at New Cumberland, he was the son of the late Austin and Mary (Wamback) Himmelman. He was a retired seaman of the C.F.B. Dockyard, Halifax, Nova Scotia. A veteran of W.W. II, he served overseas with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was a supporter of the United Church of Petite Riviere, an honourary member of Petite Riviere Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 30 years, Branch No. 24, Bridgewater, and a member of the West Novies Memory Club at the South Shore. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Whynot); two daughters, Carolyn Johnson; Katherine (Mrs. Clarence Guest), both of Forest Hill, Dartmouth; a son, Eugene of Halifax; a sister, Dora (Mrs. Frank Girling), of Don Mills, Ontario; two brothers, Stedman of Pleasantville; Cyril of Pleasant River; and eight grandchildren. The body rested at R.A. Corkum's Funeral Home, Wileville. There was a memorial service on Thursday evening by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 24, with Chaplain Rev. Ron Mosley, which was greatly attended by members of the Legion and also the Auxiliary, friends, and family. On Friday, November 29th., funeral service was greatly attended. The choir of Wesley United Church of Petite Riviere sang the hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Pastor John Pringle officiated, assisted by Rev. Ron Mosley. Burial was at the United Church Cemetery of Petite Riviere. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
