Honorary pallbearers were Tom Carlson, Doug DeBrower, Don Rohrer, Ray Gensley and Everett Refer. Flower bearers were Florence and Ralph Martinson and Yvonne and Russell Price. Melvin Verne Jack was born Oct. 22, 1925, at Deep River, the son of George William and Naomi Grier Jack. He attended Guernsey schools and graduated from Victor High School in 1943. He married Dora Holst June 16, 1948, at Belle Plaine. he couple farmed near Victor and Deep River until 1962 when they moved to Victor, where he worked for Jack Electric and Amana Refrigeration, retired in 1988. Jack is survived by his wife; his children, Linda Cheney, Deep River; Denny Jack and Connie Kempf, both Victor; Bruce, Hartwick, and Vicky Blum, Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and two brothers, Burdette, Victor, and Stan, River Falls, Wisc. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lowell, and two grandchildren, Terri and Trent Cheney.
