He married Helen Van Sickle on July 25, 1969 in Monroe, Michigan and she preceded him in death in 2004. Melvin was born in Pleasant Township, Hancock County to the late Lloyd and Anna May (Hiesman) Dishong. He married Helen Van Sickle on July 25, 1969 in Monroe, Michigan and she preceded him in death in 2004. Melvin is survived by his children: Jon (Lou Ann Hampshire) Dishong, of Rawson, Ohio, David (Sherrie) Adams of Deshler, Ohio, Ed Adams of McComb, Ohio and Sherri Keeney of McComb; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a sister Alice Hobbs of Findlay. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Lawrence and Junior Dishong and a sister Edna Hoetling. Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Morrison Moorhead VFW # 9231 of McComb, Ohio where he served as a trustee. Melvin enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and farming. The most important part of Melvin’s life was his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Visitation for Melvin will be on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 1:00 until the time of his funeral service at 2:00 PM in the HARTLEY-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 370 Park Dr. S., McComb, Ohio 45858. Interment will follow in the McComb Union Cemetery, where Military Honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad. Arrangements are pending with the Hartley-Hanneman Funeral Home, McComb.
