Description	:	Melvin "Mel" Walker Myers, 78, of Columbus, formerly of Vevay, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Switzerland County, the son of Steven and Helen Griffith Myers. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1951 graduate of Vevay High School, where he was captain of the basketball team. He was a tester for the Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, retiring in 1996 after 27 years. He had also worked for the Vevay Shoe Factory for several years. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Carol Ashcraft Myers, whom he married June 28, 1957; two sons, Danny Myers of Ocala, Fla. and Steve Myers of Rising Sun; one daughter, Nancy Scott of Rising Sun; three grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren.
