Read More	Blue Creek Woman Dies at Hospital Mrs. Margaret Abbott, 83, of Blue Creek died early Saturday at Adams County hospital, shortly after she had been admitted. She was born at Blue Creek and was a daughter of the late Greenberry and Nancy Webb Copas. Her husband, Meredith Abbott died several years ago. Surviving are a son, Marshall Abbott of Blue Creek; three daughters, Mrs. Jessie Cooper of Blue Creek, Mrs. Bessie Sartin of Otway and Mrs. Bertha Short of Gallapolis; four sisters, Miss Hettie Copas of Seaman, Mrs. Elzie Gifford of Stout, Mrs. Arthur Grooms of Lynx and Mrs. Lillie Hayslip of Clarksbuurg; one brother, Doc Copas of Seaman. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at East Liberty church with Rev. W. E. Mills officiating. Burial under the direction of Lafferty's Funeral Home was in the church cemetery. 7 November 1963 The People's Defender Minta Margaret Abbott, daughter of Greenberry and Nancy Webb Copas, was born in Adams county, September 16, 1880 and departed this life on October 26, 1963 at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 10 days. She had been in poor health for several years but became critically ill Saturday morning near four o'clock. Her family realized her serious condition and were taking her to the Adams County hospital, but the death angel visited her as they came near the Satterfield Chapel church. Margaret was the fifth child in a family of sixteen children. Her parents, five brothers and five sisters, preceded her in death. On May 20, 1910 she was united in marriage to Meredith Abbott and they were permitted to live together 48 years when he passed away in 1958. To this union were born one son, Marshall of Blue Creek and three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Short of Gallipolis, Ohio, Mrs. Bessie Sarten of Otway, R. 2 and Mrs. Jessie Cooper at home, all of whom are left to mourn her passing. Besides her children she leaves one brother, Dock Copas, of Seaman and four sisters, Mrs. Mahaley Gifford of Stout, Mrs. Myrta Grooms of Lynx , Mrs. Lillie Hayslip of Clarksville, Ohio and Miss Hettie Copas of Seaman. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Early in life she became a Christian at the Grange Hall church and was of the Baptist faith. Her entire life was spent in Adams county and it can be truthfully said that she was a good and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
