Description	:	Mercy Dee, daughter of Franklin and Mary Dee, was born in Georgia, Vermont, January 17, 1848. After a short illness she passed away at the home of her son, J. D. Flaig, in Des Moines, Monday, January 21, 1924. When she was six years old the family moved to North Lawrence, N.Y., living there for years. Then they moved to Princeton, Ill, coming to Brooklyn in 1862. Part of the trip to Brooklyn was made by wagon. Read More	Mercy Dee, daughter of Franklin and Mary Dee, was born in Georgia, Vermont, January 17, 1848. After a short illness she passed away at the home of her son, J. D. Flaig, in Des Moines, Monday, January 21, 1924. When she was six years old the family moved to North Lawrence, N.Y., living there for years. Then they moved to Princeton, Ill, coming to Brooklyn in 1862. Part of the trip to Brooklyn was made by wagon. Brooklyn continued to be her home, with the exception of three years spent at the home of her son in Des Moines, until her death. She was united in marriage November 28, 1869, to Joseph A. Flaig, who preceded her in death twenty-three years. To this union were born five children, Mertle dying in infancy and the four surviving children, Mrs. George Haswell of Hobson, Mont., Mrs. Sadie Kann and Mrs. Harry Eaton of Brooklyn and J. D. Flaig of Des Moines. She also leaves six grandchildren. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, uniting with it December 1, 1877. She was a charter member of Brooklyn Chapter of the Eastern Star and its second worthy matron. She gave a great deal of her energy to the work of the Eastern Star. She was very devoted to her children and their every interest was hers. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Presbyterian church, the pastor, Rev. E. W. F. Holler being in charge. On account of the severe weather the beautiful service of the Easter Star was given in the church. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in the family lot. Source Poweshiek Obituaries
