Description	:	Mercy was the daughter of James Huckins and Fanny Robinson and was born in Lubec, that part of which was once Eastport. Her family lived on Straight Bay and Mercy was the eldest daughter and one of 10 children. Mercy married Samuel Leighton Oct 11, 1834 in Lubec (Int Oct 2). Samuel was the son of Hatevil Leighton and Polly Mahar of Denbo's Point. He was one of 15 children. Read More	Mercy was the daughter of James Huckins and Fanny Robinson and was born in Lubec, that part of which was once Eastport. Her family lived on Straight Bay and Mercy was the eldest daughter and one of 10 children. Mercy married Samuel Leighton Oct 11, 1834 in Lubec (Int Oct 2). Samuel was the son of Hatevil Leighton and Polly Mahar of Denbo's Point. He was one of 15 children. Samuel and Mercy had children Sophronia L., Pillsbury, James Bradford, Catherine M. and Sarah Jane Leighton, perhaps others. Samuel died at 36 yrs of age and Mery moved to Whiting Maine around 1844 when she married for her second husband Horation Allan who had been married to Samuel's sister Margaret who died in 1843. She had two more children Amanda and William Alan. Mercy and Samuel's son Pillsbury Leighton died in Whiting at age 14 in 1854. Their son James Leighton died in the Civil War in 1865. In the 1850 census in Whiting Mercy was 42, husband Horatio 46 and his children Edward and Keziah (Allan) were 18 and 15. Mercy's children Sophronia was 15, Pillsbury 14, James B. 12, Sarah 5 (Leighton) and Mercy's son William (Allan is 5). By the 1860 census Mercy has had her daughter Amanda (Allan). Mercy and Horatio moved to Machias some time around 1865 and Mercy died there in August of 1867. In the 1870 census Horatio was living with his daughter Keziah along with his children William and Bell (Amanda) Allan. Mercy's daughter Sarah Jane married Isreal Dinsmore in 1859 and died not too long after. Mercy's daughter Catherine married Bella Crane and resided in Whiting. Sophronia married Wilson Andrews of New Brunswick and moved to Massachusetts and died there. Mercy was predeceased by her sisters Catherine in 1839 and Jane in 1841 and her mother Fanny in 1846.
