Description	:	Merle Jean Schilke, 70, of Lincoln, passed away May 20, 2022, in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Rempel officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the "Garden Room" at Wyuka Funeral Home. Merle was born December 7, 1951 in Lincoln, to Merle and Patsy (McEntarffer) Schilke. In her younger years she was a member of the Havelock Methodist church, but for the past few years, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Both churches were a big part of Merle's life. She was a 30 year employee at Village Motor Inn and received "Employee of the Year" while working there. Merle also worked at the Cornhusker Hotel and the Hilton Hotel, receiving runner up "Employee of the Month" twice. She received numerous service rewards for the time spent helping others. Merle was a caregiver at the nursery at Hollywood Bowl and was a 20 year member of the Lincoln Woman's Bowling Association, traveling across the country to compete with her bowling team. She loved spending time with her family as a caregiver and babysitter, never missing an opportunity to attend sporting events or recitals that involved her nieces and nephews. Merle enjoyed cooking, knitting, and crocheting, she was a member of the Girl Scouts. She loved watching movies and never missed a chance to see "The Wizard of Oz", her favorite. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Terry Schilke and Patrick Schilke, and nephew Colin Schilke. Merle is survived by her brothers Jerry and Harry Schilke; sister Eva Schilke; sister-in-law Nancy Schilke, and numerous nieces and nephews. https://wyuka.com/2022/05/21/merle-jean-schilke/
