Description	:	Merle Otto Goertzen, was born November 25, 1928 on a farm south of Hampton, Nebraska the first son of John B. and Katherine Goertzen. Merle passed away on March 25, 2012 at Sweet Home, Oregon at the age of 83. Merle went to Hampton and Henderson schools for his education. He was also self-taught in many areas. Merle met the love of his life, Adella Lucille, in the Henderson Mennonite Church in Henderson. Merle passed away on March 25, 2012 at Sweet Home, Oregon at the age of 83. Merle went to Hampton and Henderson schools for his education. He was also self-taught in many areas. Merle met the love of his life, Adella Lucille, in the Henderson Mennonite Church in Henderson. They were married August 3, 1948 in Hillsboro, Kansas and celebrated 57 years of marriage before Adella Lucille passed away in 2005. They were farmers in Nebraska for many years. They retired to Sweet Home, Oregon in 1999 to be near their daughter, Frances. They were blessed with 3 daughters: Frances Mae, married to Mike Wilson, Beverly Ann, married to Les Valentine, and Sharon Kay and special friend, Todd Lingo. They were blessed with grandchildren: Jeff Goertzen, Kurt Becker, Mary Rose Valentine, Amy Ann Valentine and 2 deceased grandchildren, JoVanna Becker and Bob Valentine. He was blessed with 8 great-grandchildren. Merle was preceded in death by: parents, brother, Glen Goertzen; sister, Lilah Schultz and son-in-law, Russ Becker. Interment was in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery north of Henderson, NE.
