Description	:	Merle Weber, 93, of Ackley and formerly of Iowa Falls, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Presbyterian Village, Ackley. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, February 20, at the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, rural Geneva. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, rural Geneva. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, February 20, at the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, rural Geneva. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, rural Geneva. Merle Wykle Weber, was born on September 4, 1912, to Solomon Frederick and Mary Justina (Wykle) Weber, near Ackley, in Hardin County. He was the third of five children, having two brothers, Rueben and Elmer and two sisters, Sarah and Phyllis. He attended the Pleasant Hill School through the eighth grade. On March 30, 1938, Merle was united in marriage to Anna Margaret Brass. To this union three sons were born and raised, Kenneth, Duane and Ronald. The couple farmed on a dairy and hog farm in Franklin County, instilling in their children the love of God and family as Merle’s parents had done for him. Merle enjoyed music very much and frequently played steel guitar and harmonica for local dances in his younger years. He also sang for many years with a male quartet and in his later years he noted sadly as each of the quartet members were called home to be with the Lord. As Merle now enjoys a sweet reunion with family and friends who have gone on before, the old quartet is also reunited in heavenly harmony. He was a member of the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, having served in many positions including church council and elders. Merle is survived by two sons, Duane Weber and wife, Karen of Andover, Minnesota and Ronald Weber and wife, Patricia of Casa Grande, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Patricia Weber Bierman and husband, Vernon; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Weber and wife, Mardel of Sheffield; and one brother-in-law, L. M. "Buck" Hayden of Sugar Land, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Mary Weber; his wife, Anna Weber; one son, Kenneth Weber; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Weber; one brother, Rueben Weber and wife, Hattie; two sisters, Phyllis Hayden and Sarah Duit and husband, John.
