Description	:	Born on a farm a short distance from the one on which he resided. He had lived at his last residence since he was a small child. He endured a 2 year battle with cancer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1955. Part of 1955 was served at Camp Hale in Colorado. I do not know what his duties were while there, but he was allowed to take his young wife and infant daughter. According to online sources, this camp was discontinued in 1965. He was stationed in Georgia for a short time after leaving Colorado. He had a deep and long enduring appreciation for horses, and even enjoyed them in his last years at his son's residence outside of Des Moines. Private family arrangements were handled by Woodley Funeral Home. Burial occurred on September 29th. Information will differ from the web published obituary because I have access to additional information, and out of respect for a family that I know well. As of May, 2021, he has 50 living descendants and their various spouses, along with his wife and youngest sister. He is also survived by 2 brothers in law, a sister in law, and numerous former in laws.
