Description	:	Merlin Frederick Hatfield born November 5, 1923 in Medford, OR passed away in his home west of Red Bluff on January 9, 2009. Raised and attended school in Beiber, CA, lived 65 years or more in Tehama County west of Red Bluff on a small ranch/farm. Read More	Merlin Frederick Hatfield born November 5, 1923 in Medford, OR passed away in his home west of Red Bluff on January 9, 2009. Raised and attended school in Beiber, CA, lived 65 years or more in Tehama County west of Red Bluff on a small ranch/farm. Merlin served in the United States Army in WWII between 1943 to 1945 and was awarded a Purple Heart. He met his first wife June after he returned from his service overseas and they married on December 29th, 1946 in San Diego where June was from. They returned to live in Tehama County. Merlin's father, William Frederick lived with them about 10 miles west of Red Bluff and helped raise their first son, Wayne. They moved closer to town around 1953 and it was then Merlin lost his Dad to cancer. Merlin and June had two more children in the next few years, Brandon and Marilyn. They lived on approx 50 acres and raised their three children. Merlin and June had a love for the country and the outdoors and this was instilled in their children. Merlin lost the love of his life to cancer in June of 1980. He eventually married again to Eileen Hatfield who was divorced from his cousin Earl Hatfield. Eileen passed away in May of 2007. They were married 24 years. His survivors include sons Wayne and wife Judy, Brandon and wife Diane and daughter Marilyn and husband Lee. He has nine grandchildren, Gina, Sarah, Dylan, Linsey, Wyatt, Adam, June, Jacob and Rachel. He had seven great grandchildren, Tucker, Talon, Michaela, Caitlin, Shelby, Tyler and the youngest Chloe. Dad finally can rest with the Lord and be reunited with the ones he loved. His hard work is no more, but his memory lives on. We will never forget you Dad. We will always love you. You were a wonderful father and a very good man. We were blessed to have you as long as we did. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 15th at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff. Chapel of the Flowers is handling all arrangements.
