Mr. Toedter was a railway mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years and worked at the Statehouse postal station in Topeka from 1967 to 1980. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 and was with the 35th Infantry at Guadalcanal and the Luzons and other areas in the South Pacific. he received the Purple Heart and was a disabled veteran. Toedter, 82, Marysville, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at a Marysville hospital. Mr. Toedter was a railway mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years and worked at the Statehouse postal station in Topeka from 1967 to 1980. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 and was with the 35th Infantry at Guadalcanal and the Luzons and other areas in the South Pacific. he received the Purple Heart and was a disabled veteran. He was born Feb. 11, 1920, at Home, the son of Louis and Frieda Haar Toedter. He graduated from Oketo High School in 1938. He lived in Kansas City for 15 years and in Topeka for 13 years before moving to Marysville in 1980. Mr. Toedter was a life member of Kiwanis, and he received the James W. Putnam Award and attended 13 international Kiwanis meetings. He also was lieutenant governor for Kiwanis. He also was a member of North East Kansas AAA. He was a Silver Haired Legislator, and he helped introduce a bill to the Kansas Legislature. He also was a 50- year member of the Masons. He married Aline Olson on Dec. 29, 1946, at Marysville. She survives. Mr. Toedter was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Lea Toedter. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville. Burial will be at the Marysville City Cemetery. Mr. Toedter will lie in state at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville after 10 a.m. today, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville and sent in care of the mortuary.
