Description	:	Merlyne (Anderson) Nitteberg, daughter of Sampson and Mayme P. (Knutson) Anderson, was born February 24, 1923 in Hamlin County, South Dakota. She received her education in rural school in Brookings and Hamlin Counties, and then attended Estelline High School. After receiving her education she was employed as a housekeeper in the Chicago area until 1942. Merlyne was united in marriage to Clair Nitteberg on December 19, 1942 in Watertown, South Dakota. She received her education in rural school in Brookings and Hamlin Counties, and then attended Estelline High School. After receiving her education she was employed as a housekeeper in the Chicago area until 1942. Merlyne was united in marriage to Clair Nitteberg on December 19, 1942 in Watertown, South Dakota. After their marriage they owned and operated the Stone Bridge Resort and the Lake Poinsett Casino until their retirement in 1979. She died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 91 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline, was active in the Ladies Aid and the choir for many years. She was also past president of the Aid Association for Lutherans. Merlyne played organ for eight years with the Young At Heart Band and she enjoyed sewing and music. She was preceded in death by her husband Clair on January 14, 2013, her parents, one sister Mary Salmonson and two brothers, Alvin and Leonard. Her funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, October 3, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Visitation will be from 6PM to 8PM on Thursday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
