Description	:	ELWOOD — Merna Louise Modglin, 81, of Elwood died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at her home. Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington. A coffee and cookie reception will follow at Elwood Senior Center. Burial will be at Elwood Cemetery. She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Kenneth and Opal (McGraw) Walston. Read More	ELWOOD — Merna Louise Modglin, 81, of Elwood died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at her home. Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington. A coffee and cookie reception will follow at Elwood Senior Center. Burial will be at Elwood Cemetery. She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Kenneth and Opal (McGraw) Walston. Merna grew up in the Lexington area and graduated high school from Lexington High School with the class of 1956. In October 1953, Merna married Larry Adams and to this union they were blessed with six children, Gary, Deb, Ricky, Michelle, Alan and Terri. Merna married Mitch Modglin on April 20, 1968. They were married 22 years. Merna held many jobs throughout her life, mostly working in the office doing books for various businesses. She also owned the Elwood Market with her sister, Janet, for 15 years, until she retired in 2010. Merna enjoyed spending time with her family, with her favorite holiday being Christmas. She would always made an abundance of candy. She enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, playing the piano, playing Yahtzee and card games. Merna was also a proud cancer survivor. Merna is survived by her daughters, Deb and Mike Potter of Holdrege and Michelle and Dean Jones of Burley, Idaho; sister, Janet Refior of Elwood; six grandchildren, Angela and Jason Phipps, Jason Wick, Justin and Stephanie Potter, Joshua and Mary Grace Swartwood, Tiffany and Brett Mitchell, and Autumn and Jared Bramer; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Merna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Walston; husband, Mitch; sons, Gary, Ricky and Alan; and daughter, Terri.
