She passed away on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016, in Lincoln at the age of 94 years nine months and 17 days. She graduated from Geneva High School with the Class of 1939. Merna married Harry C. She passed away on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016, in Lincoln at the age of 94 years nine months and 17 days. She graduated from Geneva High School with the Class of 1939. Merna married Harry C. Korensky of Morrison, Ill., formerly of the Tobias area, on December 5, 1940. They lived in Morrison, Ill., and later came back to Nebraska. Born to them were two children, Karen Lee and Robert "Dean." Merna was living in Lincoln from 2004 up until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Oates; son, Dean (Wanda) Korensky; grandchildren, Toby Korensky, Todd Korensky, Chet Korensky, Bill Oates, Julie Nunnenkamp and Kristy Hiebner; 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry C. Korensky; parents, Fred and Harriett "Grace" (Casburn) Stofer; parents-in-law, Albert and Ludmilla Korensky; great-granddaughter, Katie Lynn Korensky. Funeral services for Merna were held on June 4 at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva with Pastor Diane Ryder officiating. Graveside services we conducted at the Geneva Public Cemetery. During the service there were two recorded songs, "Jesus Paid It All" and "His Eye is on the Sparrow" by Mark Butler. Pallbearers included Bill Oates, Randy Nunnenkamp, Rick Hiebner, Toby , Todd, Taylor and Chet Korensky. The Nebraska Signal June 15, 2016 page 5.
