Description	:	Mero Webster was born in Ohio and in 1856 came with his parents to Fremont County, Iowa, where he resided until his death. On 24 Jan 1861 he married Delilah A Stinson of Linn County, Iowa. Mero and Delilah had eight children: Olive (Park), Clara (McClure), Walter, Irene, George, Lester, Joseph, and William. Mero was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private on 15 Aug 1862 at the age of 25 years. Mustered in Co E 29th Iowa Infantry on 12 Nov 1862. Mustered out 10 Aug 1865 at New Orleans, Louisiana. Mero was widely known throughout Fremont County. He was deputy treasurer and deputy recorder of Fremont County, was elected county treasurer in 1881 and held the office for three terms, and was postmaster of Sidney during Grant's administration. At the time of his death, he was an abstractor. He wrote three sets of abstract books for the county and was in the abstract business when he died. He died at his home in Sidney in 1899 of Bright's disease at the age of 61 years 5 months 8 days.
