Description	:	Merton Victor Edwards, 94, of Farmington, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 5. He was born Sept. 20, 1911, in New Portland, a son of Albion K.P. and Sadie E. (Smith) Edwards. He was educated in the schools of New Portland and graduated from Central High School. He married Ida Belle Oliver on June 4, 1938. Read More	Merton Victor Edwards, 94, of Farmington, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 5. He was born Sept. 20, 1911, in New Portland, a son of Albion K.P. and Sadie E. (Smith) Edwards. He was educated in the schools of New Portland and graduated from Central High School. He married Ida Belle Oliver on June 4, 1938. He worked at McGary's Garage, Newman Motor Co., and Farmington Oil Co. as a mechanic and "jack of all trades" retiring in 1973. He served in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II and was a 55-year member of Maine Masonic Lodge 20 AF and AM of Farmington, where he served as Tyler for the last several years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bee keeping, and making maple syrup. He also enjoyed attending masonic lodge meetings and visiting other area masonic lodges. He will be remembered as a kind and honest gentleman. He is survived by a daughter, Eloise Wallace of Farmington; two sons, Albion and his wife, Virginia, of Eliot and Frank and his wife, Wendy, of International Falls, Minn.; a brother, Winston, twin sister, Mildred Davis and sister, Edith McCleery, all of the Farmington area; a sister-in-law, Lucille Oliver of Avon; grandchildren, Keith Edwards and his wife, Shannon, of Eliot and their children, Maggie and Matthew; Scott Edwards of Eliot, Beth Edwards of Wilton, Charles Wallace and his children, Mitchell and Michael and their mother, Melissa Fogg, all of Farmington, Jonathan Edwards and his wife, Sara and their son, Tyler Edwards, all of St. Francis, Minn., Kristen Edwards of Marianna, Ark., and Steven Edwards of International Falls, Minn.; 19 nieces and nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Dec. 21, 1996; a son, Charles Alton; a brother, Marshall and his wife, Evelyn; sister, Alma Churchill; brother-in-laws, Archie Davis, Harley Oliver, Robert McCleery; and a sister-in-law, Theona Edwards.
