Mervin J. Adams, 66, of Thompson, ND passed away on Tuesday December 4, 2007, at home with his family by his side.
Mervin Joseph Adams was born on December 21, 1940 to Lawrence Joseph and Theresa Barbara (Schreiner) Adams on the family farm at Reynolds, ND. While growing up on the farm he worked side by side with his parents and brothers where he learned to love the life of farming and family. He attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Reynolds High School in Reynolds, ND. GO ROCKETS!!!!

Mervin J. Adams, 66, of Thompson, ND passed away on Tuesday December 4, 2007, at home with his family by his side.
Mervin Joseph Adams was born on December 21, 1940 to Lawrence Joseph and Theresa Barbara (Schreiner) Adams on the family farm at Reynolds, ND. While growing up on the farm he worked side by side with his parents and brothers where he learned to love the life of farming and family. He attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Reynolds High School in Reynolds, ND. GO ROCKETS!!!!
Mervin served in the North Dakota Army National Guard for six years. He was united in marriage to Judith Ann Galegher on July 17, 1965 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Reynolds, ND. They made their home in Thompson, ND where they raised their three daughters: Sarah Jane, Linda Jean, and Wendy Anne.
Mervin farmed with Galegher Farms of Thompson, ND for 44 years and continued to work part-time even after retirement. He was a member of the Reynolds Knights of Columbus, St. Jude's Catholic Church, the Thompson American Legion and the Thompson Senior Citizens. He served on the Thompson City Council for 27 years, and was an instructor for Youth Gun Safety for 20 years.
Mervin is survived by his wife Judi, daughters Sarah (friend, John Pike), Fargo, ND; Linda Pietruszewski, East Grand Forks, MN; Wendy (Michael) O'Leary, East Grand Forks, MN; brothers, Gerald (Ethel) Coon Rapids, MN; Larry (Mary) Tarpon Springs, FL and Wayne (Linda), Reynolds, ND; grandchildren, Adam & Mia Pietruszewski, Michael, Matthew & Marina O'Leary, all of East Grand Forks, MN; close family friend, Wayne Pietruszewski, East Grand Forks, MN. In laws, John & Helen Galegher, Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law, Jolene Galegher, Alexandria VA; Barbara Hatfield, New York City, NY; Nancy Norman, Seattle, WA; Sheila Galegher and husband Lou Counter, Waukesha, WI; and one brother-in-law John (Pam) Galegher, Thompson, ND; many nieces and nephews, and his best buddy, Molly, his little puppy.
Mervin was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence & Theresa Adams, his maternal grandparents, Wolfgang & Caroline Schreiner and his paternal grandparents, Martin & Hedwig (Hattie) Adams.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 in St. Jude's Catholic Church, Thompson, North Dakota.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service and a 3:30 p.m. rosary service all in St. Jude's Catholic Church and visitation one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: St. Jude's Catholic Cemetery, Thompson, ND in the spring.
Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 181, Thompson, ND.
