Lee McClenahan, M.D., 83 of Dubuque, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Unity Point Health - Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Lee was born Feb. 28, 1932 in Sigourney, the son of Charles Mervin and Mildred (Farmer) McClenahan. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1950. Lee served in the United Stated Army 1954-1955, then graduated from Medical School in 1960 from the University of Iowa. Le did his residency at Stanford University, and had a private practice in San Mateo as a Psychiatrist. He returned home to Iowa to run a private family practice in Sigourney and What Cheer for ten years before moving to Dubuque to work and eventually retired as Medical Director for John Deere Dubuque Works. Lee married Carol A. Eichman on August 25, 1990 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. He loved working out and was an avid runner for a number of years, including completing a couple of marathons. He had a love for singing and was active as a tenor for years with his church choir, the Dubuque Chorale and Julien Chamber Choir. He also loved attending concerts and live productions, movies, traveling, golfing and was a avid fan of the The Cubs, Zach Johnson, Yoda, Willie Mays and Univrsity of Iowa. He and Carol had season tickets to Hawkeye wrestling, basketball and football for years. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, attending and supporting hundreds of their sporting events, fine arts productions, and other events over the years. Lee was a friend of Bill W. since 1988. Survivors include his wife , Carol; children, Christan Moran, Mark (Lisa) McClenahan, Craig McClenahan, Mathew (Alaine) McClenahan, Michael McClenahan , D.V.M., Mandy (Andrew) McClenahan Grignon, and Dana Dolter; grandchildren, Tiffany (Andrew), Tanner, Mariel, Tierney, Foster, Sydney, Lincoln, Cael, Devon, Richard, David, Rowen, and Rosalind; 1 great- grandchild, Eliza; in-laws, Betty (Tom) McAndrew, Milton (Faith) Eichman, and Debra (Steve) Perrin. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Charles Leo McClenahan, Gene (Suzy) McClenahan, and Mary (J.D.) Hughs. A memorial fund has been established in Lee's Memory at The Source.
