Meta Anna (Monk) Walter was born 18 January 1874 at New Albin, Iowa, the daughter of William and Margareta (Kirchner) Monk. She was married to Carl Walter on 3 November 1893 at Wakefield, Nebraska. To this union 8 children were born.The couple farmed northwest of Wakefield, Nebraska, until they retired in 1943 and moved into Wakefield. Mrs. Meta Anna (Monk) Walter was baptized in infancy at Eitzen, Minnesota, and was confirmed in 1888 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wakefield, Nebraska. She died Thursday, 9 March 1967, at the Wakefield, Nebraska, Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, and one son, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and one grandson.Survivors include 3 daughters, Olga Walter, Wakefield, Nebraska, Mrs. Mildred Lewis, York, Nebraska, and Mrs. Norma Miller, Hermiston, Oregon, two sons, Clair Walter of Sioux City, Iowa, and Richard Walter of Lincoln, Nebraska, one sister, Mrs. R. T. Utecht of Wakefield, Nebraska, one brother George Monk of Dixon, Nebraska, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wilbur Utecht, Fred Utecht, Elmer Monk, Laurence Johnson, Harry Bartels and George Monk.Interment was in the Wakefield, Nebraska, Cemetery.
