She was raised in Steen and attended country school. Meta was united in marriage with John Leo Friessen on July 9, 1932 at Sioux Falls, SD. The couple moved to Minneapolis, MN for a short time and then returned to Sioux Falls where they raised their seven children. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Cathedral. Meta was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed gardening and was an excellent seamstress. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Meta was a good cook and liked baking. She made wonderful homemade bread. Grateful for having shared her life are her seven children, Bernard Friessen, Sioux Falls, SD, Janet Anderson and her husband, Charles E., Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Wilde and her husband, Charles D., Sioux Falls, SD, Jerry Friessen and his wife, Lorna, Baltic, SD, Monica Poppens, Sioux Falls, SD, Roger Friessen and his wife, Roberta, Sioux City, IA, Mary Lay and her husband, John, Sioux Falls, SD; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Ehde, San Bernardino, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on September 11, 1977; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
