The son of Robert L. and Myra Ellen Ruby, passed away at his home after an illness of 5 years, on Feb. 17, 1954 at the age of 46 years, 9 months and 4 days. He was united in marriage to Margarete Thackery of Numa, la. on November 16, 1929. To this union six children were born. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. Margarete Ruby and children: Mrs. Sharlene Jones of Davenport, la.; Eugene Ruby, Marine Corps, San Diego, Calif.; Hearold, Arthur, Donald and Shirley at home; son-in-law Carl Lee Jones, Davenport, la.; daughter-in-law, Connie Ruby, Centerville, la.; two grandsons, Guy William and Larry Lee Jones of Davenport, la.; father-in-law E. J. Thackrey of Cincinnati, la.; sister-in-law Mrs. Wilma Thackrey; 2 brothers, Mr. Lota Ruby and Cleo Ruby of Blakesburg, la.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Mercedes Simmons, Rome, la.; Mrs. Katherine Beard, Mrs. Maxine Wilson and Mrs. Fern Peterson, all of Des Moines, la. A host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Mettie was a good husband and father and liked by all of those who knew him. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed him. He was a member of the Pentacost church of Centerville, la. Services were held in Numa M. E. church with Rev. Larry Den Bentson as minister of Iowa City who was his comforter and nurse while in the hospital at Iowa City, la. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister. Pallbearers were Phillip Micetich, Roy Phillips, Pete Conn, Bob Wells, Donald Marring and Bill Goodman. Flower bearers were Hazel Conn and Frances Micetich. Oh we miss him sadly, miss him As the flowers does miss the sun, But for him is all the better The Lord has said thy will be done.
