Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Nevada. Meyer J. Brekke was born Dec. 12, 1909 in Nevada to Jacob and Celina Brekke. He married Evelyn Schuler in 1937. They lived in Nevada, Maxwell, Shipley and Bella Vista, Ark., before moving back to Cambridge in 1995. He worked all his life on the farm, first renting and then in 1950 he bought 80 acres west of Shipley. He farmed there until 1978 when they sold the acreage and farm buildings and moved to Bella Vista to retire. He was active in Campus Baptist Church from 1950 t0 1978, serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He also taught Sunday school in Liberty Baptist Church in Bella Vista. He served many hours in the Retired Service Volunteer Program. He also helped his wife in a local mission outreach using Scenafelt in the 1950's. He is survived by two sons, Jim (Irene), of Exeter, Neb., and Mel (Sue) of Huxley; two brothers, William, of Chester and Everett, of San Diego; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in 2006; one brother, Orville; and three sisters, Margaret, Adel and Jeannette. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, at Adams Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the church. Memorials mey be given to the Gideons or Campus Baptist Church.
