Born in Lyman, S.C. he was the husband of the late Barbara Wood Cobb and son of the late Fred Cobb and Lizzie Taylor Cobb. He was a 1958 graduate of Bynes High School, a 1962 graduate of Wofford College, retired from FDIC, and a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney. He is survived by a son, Michael Allen Cobb, Jr. (Kristen) of Gaffney; a daughter, Beth Martin (Jimmy) of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Logan Cobb, Brady Cobb and Rylan Cobb; a sister-in-law, Betty Brown of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews; his caregivers who were like family to him, Jean Zucker and Caroline Briggs. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Truman Cobb and his wife Carole and Dewey Cobb, and a sister, Shirley Leonard and her husband Wirron. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy Comer, Dr. Tommy Huddleston and Reverend Susan Leonard officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may, be made to: First Baptist Church, 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C., 29340 or to the charity of one's choice.
