HERBERT of Beatrice, NE; Mrs. Harry SIMMONS of Olympia, WA; Mrs. Thad FOCHT of Villisca, IA; Mrs. Lottie YAGER of Beatrice, NE; Ross Bon Doll of Huron, SD; and Roy Bon Doll of Marshalltown, IA. Harman Mortuary in charge of funeral arrangements. PLEASE NOTE: The name on the original marker is incorrect. Obituary was in the Beatrice Daily Sun, 24 Dec 1948. Michael Bondell age 18 (If information is correct he lied about his age, he was only 16)of Des Moines,Iowa nativity Ohio enlisted Feb 8 1865 into Co F 7th Iowa Infantry. Based on muster date he would have participated in the 7th Iowa Infantry's march north from Savannah,GA through the swamps of the Carolina's from Jan 28 1865 - early April 1865. Then on to Washington DC. Mustered out Jul 12 1865 Louisville,KY. PLEASE NOTE: The name on the original marker is incorrect. The Nebraska Sons of Union Veterans arranged for the original marker to be reset and placed a plaque honoring Michael as the last living member of the GAR in Nebraska. The marker will be dedicated 19 October 2013.
