F, 34th Regt., Indiana Infantry as a private on Sept. 21, 1861 at Anderson IN. In August 1862 he was wounded in the left eye on board a wrecked steamer "Prince", near New Madrid MO. He and Addison Keever went on board and while prying open some boxes, Keever struck the shell with a crowbar and caused an explosion. He was detached Oct. 31, 1863 in Pass Cavallo TX. In a 1866 affadavit, he says the sight in his left eye is entirely gone. He received a pension in 1874 and his widow received a pension in 1912. If a descendant would like his file, let me know.
