Description	:	From 1981 "Harrison County History", page 150: "Michael Doyle, Sr. (1829 - 1911) settled in Harrison Co. on a farm along the Willow Creek neighbors to the Kennedys, Lattas, Carsons, and Hannemans. Michael left his wife and baby son and joined the army during the Civil War. His wife Elizabeth Owens (1840 - 1918) and a wife of a neighbor kept the families together while their husbands were gone. Edward Doyle (1865-1935); Rose Doyle Case (1867-1935); Ida Doyle McKinney (1869-1901); Nelle Doyle (1871-1953); Charles Doyle (1873-1886); Harriett Doyle (1875-1955); Mammie Doyle (1879-1903); Thomas C. Doyle (1881-1957). They built a sturdy log house, part of the logs later used to build the log cabin in the Magnolia park. Later a house was built on the farm for Tom who farmed for years and then went into a hardware store in Logan. Michael Jr. farmed two miles away and Edward was in a drug store in Hamburg, Iowa. Harriet and Nelle stayed on the farm until their death. One of the century farms in Harrison County, 1860." His death in ascribed to heart failure but his strength had been failing him for some time. Recently he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. A wife and children survive. He leaves a wife and 6 children: Mrs. J. T. Case of Logan; Ed and Nellie of Hamburg; Tom, Michael and Harriet living near Logan. The services were conducted by Rev. M. D. Crewdson of Logan. Obituary "Logan Gazette" 29 Jun 1911 MICHAEL DOYLE PASSES AWAY Michael Doyle was born in County Down, Ireland, October 31, 1831 and died at his home near Magnolia, Friday, June 23, 1911, aged 78 years 7 months and twelve days. He came to America in 1844 and to Harrison County 1855. In 1861 he was married in this county to Miss Elizabeth Owens. To this union nine children were born, six of whom survive him, Michael, Mrs. J.T. Case, Harriet and Thomas of Logan and Edward and Nellie of Hamburg. He enlisted in Company C of the 29th Iowa at Magnolia in 1862 and served until the close of the war. The funeral was held from the home near Magnolia Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. W.B. Crewdson of the Christian Church of this place. The funeral was very largely attended. Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Johnson, Mrs. Fannie Harvey and Homer Cadwell sang at the funeral. Relatives and friends were at the funeral from nearly every town and township of Harrison County. Mrs. Longman of Lincoln, Nebraska and Frank Roberts of Ames Iowa were present. Mr. Doyle was well known throughout the county and highly respected for his honesty and sterling qualities. The wife, six children, other relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn his departure. The interment was at the Magnolia cemetery.
