The bodies of Michael Baxter, 23, of Waukon, Iowa and Karen Jean Schulte, 19, of Harper's Ferry were found about 9 a.m. in Miss Schulte's 1969 car, which was parked near Second and Chestnut streets here with the motor running, according to Allamakee County Sheriff Neil Becker. Becker said the couple was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was listed as asphyxiation, he said. The couple reportedly had been engaged for less than two weeks and had planned to marry in June, according to a family member.
