He married Amanda Jane Newhouse, daughter of Elijah Newhouse ((1805-1845) and Mary "Polly" (Miller) Newhouse (1811-1838). Amanda was born Oct. 28, 1833 in Rush County, IN. and died Aug. 8, 1885 in Montgomery County, IA. They had five children: Isabel Miller b 1856/57; Marion R.
