He then pursued higher education at... Read More	Michael Gene “Mike” Jones, 67 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at his home in Holdrege. Mike was born November 27, 1951 at Biloxi, MS, the eldest of four children born to James and Maxine (Shannon) Jones. He was baptized at the Christian Church in Minden. Throughout his entire life, his faith was of utmost importance. Mike received his primary education from Minden Public Schools, until the family moved to Holdrege in 1967, where Mike graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1970. He then pursued higher education at Kearney State College. At the time of Mike’s birth he was partially blind. In the years to come he would eventually lose his complete eyesight. Mike learned to persevere and overcome these challenges in life. When Mike was a young boy he began guitar lessons, which led him to his love of music. Music was truly his passion in life. He was also a talented music writer and enjoyed playing in bands throughout the years, which created lifelong friendships. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jim Jones; twin brother, Mark in infancy; his grandparents; Hubert and Anna Shannon and Harold and Maude Jones; and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Jones. He leaves to mourn his passing; his daughter, Chelsea Lauer of Anchorage, AK; his mother, Maxine Jones of Holdrege; two brothers: Dan Jones of Holdrege; and Steve Jones and his wife, Sherry of Grand Island; seven nieces and nephews: Jeremy Jones and his wife, Jody; Josh Jones and his wife, Tori; Sara Hammond and her husband, Arik; Amy Peterson and her husband, Chris; Paul Svoboda; Susie Mall and her husband, Zach; and Kip Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.
