Romkey, one of the most prominent citizens of this district. He was born at Crescent Beach, Lunenburg County, on October 30, 1851, the son of Isaac and Mrs. Romkey. He attended the Provincial Normal School at Truro during the 1867-68 term, and for twenty-two years taught school in various parts of Lunenburg County. Romkey Was Prominent Citizen of District West Dublin, Nov 24 - The death occurred here on Monday morning of Michael J. Romkey, one of the most prominent citizens of this district. He was born at Crescent Beach, Lunenburg County, on October 30, 1851, the son of Isaac and Mrs. Romkey. He attended the Provincial Normal School at Truro during the 1867-68 term, and for twenty-two years taught school in various parts of Lunenburg County. He was married at Halifax in the Garrison Chapel to Margaret Ritcie, who predeceased him in 1874. He was appointed Justice of the Peace during the Holmes-Thomson administration in the year 1880, and this year, despite his advanced age, was able to administer oaths to the Municipal officers in his district. A consistent Liberal and staunch supporter of the Presbyterian Church, he was highly respected throughout the province. He is survived by three sons and three daughters; Edith, in New York; Huldah (Mrs. F. Eaton), of Halifax; Isaac, at Crescent Beach; Gordon E., M.L.A. for Lunenburg; Victor, of West Dublin. Five sisters and one brother also survive.The funeral services, which will be conducted by Rev. D. W. McDonald, will be held at West Dublin on Thursday afternoon at 2:30. With thanks to Paul Harmon
