Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Sunday. Michael “Mick” Jeffrey Thorstad was born August 27,1952 to Edwin and Arleen (Nodland) Thorstad at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson. He grew up in Dickinson and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He attended school in Dickinson Central Elementary and graduated from Dickinson Central High School in 1970. After graduation Mick traveled to Charleston, W. Va., where he lived with his sister “Evie” Snyder and her family and then later moved to Minneapolis, Minn. His life’s work always involved construction, carpentry and concrete work. He was a man of detail, so good workmanship mattered to him. Forever the adventurer, Mick enjoyed sports, camping, bonfires, reading, drawing, painting, board games, playing cards, TV’s Jeopardy, and family reunions. He loved his family, friends, baseball, cherry pie and cats. Mick is survived by his four brothers, Gordon (Anita), Tucson, Ariz., Jerry (Deb), Dickinson, Ron (Cynthia), Denver, Colo., and Allan (Corine), Dickinson; one half brother, Lyman (Patricia) Larson, Boise, Idaho; one sister, Norma Knapp, Alexandria, Minn.; two uncles George (Kayleen) Nodland, Dickinson and Gordon Kucera, Bismarck; one aunt Rose Marie Nickel, Dickinson, one great-aunt, Ruby Paulson, Dickinson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Rosemary “Rosie” Sterle; sister, Evelyn “Evie” Snyder; parents, Edwin Thorstad and Arleen Thorstad.
