Description	:	Michael John Mattocks passed away on Feb. 3, 2009, and joined his daughter, Shannon, in heaven. He was born on Jan. 23, 1963, in Defiance to Shelagh (Sullivan) and the late Gene Mattocks. He is also survived by two daughters, Erin and Jody; four brothers, Mark, David and Darren of Defiance, and Matt (Sally) Mattocks of Virginia Beach, Va. His surviving nieces and nephews are Josh, Emilee, Philip, Seth and Erika Mattocks. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Mattocks; and his daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Mattocks. His surviving nieces and nephews are Josh, Emilee, Philip, Seth and Erika Mattocks. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Mattocks; and his daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Mattocks. Mike graduated from Defiance High School and Four County Joint Vocational School in 1982. He joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Luce. He was out to sea three and a half years out of the four years he served. He returned to Defiance in 1986. In 1987, he married Deborah Armstrong, who survives. Mike was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and camp. He was a member of AMVETS and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 6, from 2-8 p.m. The funeral will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. with Father Tim Kummerer officiating. Visitors will be received an hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, Mike's family is requesting donations be made to a fund for his children's further education. Services for Michael J. Mattocks were held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Tim Kummerer officiating. Organist was Bob Barnett. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark, Matthew, David and Darren Mattocks, Mike Deming and Ron Peio. Honorary pallbearer was Bob Armstrong. Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home handled arrangements. Defiance Crescent-News
