Description	:	Funeral services for Michael J. Hrbek, life long resident of Knox county, who died Sunday at his farm home, south of Verdel, were held Wednesday at the Sandoz Mortuary and at the Pischelville Hall at two o'clock. Burial was in the Bohemian National cemetery at Pischelville. Michael J. Hrbek was born February 24, 1872 in Knox county, Nebraska, the son of Michael and Rosa Hrbek, pioneer settlers of the county. Hrbek, life long resident of Knox county, who died Sunday at his farm home, south of Verdel, were held Wednesday at the Sandoz Mortuary and at the Pischelville Hall at two o'clock. Burial was in the Bohemian National cemetery at Pischelville. Michael J. Hrbek was born February 24, 1872 in Knox county, Nebraska, the son of Michael and Rosa Hrbek, pioneer settlers of the county. He well remembered the attack of unfriendly Indians upon the homestead of a neighbor and the tomahawking of their two children. He attended the district school at Pishelville, where in the few short terms, he acquired all the education that was offered in the early days. Early in life he undertook the ways of life on the farm, which became his calling. At the age of 27 years on September 9, 1899 he was united in marriage to Miss Katherina Dobrichovsky. To this union five children were born, three daughters and two sons. After a long and lingering illness, Mr. Hrbek passed away, Sunday morning at 4 o'clock, June 9, 1946, having attained the age of 74 years, 3 months and 15 days. He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Katie, and five children, Joseph of Dorsey, Charles at home, Marian Ruzicka and Martha Mlady of Verdel and Lottie Forman of Walnut. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and two brothers, Frank of Verdel and Adolph of Verdigre and a host of many other relatives, friends and neighbors. Mr. Hrbek was a member of the lodge of Modern Woodmen for 46 years and of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association of Pishelville Lodge No.7 for 40 years. He was highly respected in his community and held many local public offices.
