Mike was born December 18, 1946, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Kenneth Russell and Edith Rebecca (Thompson) Lett. He graduated from the Anita High School in 1965. Lett, 71, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at his home in rural Atlantic, Iowa. Mike was born December 18, 1946, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Kenneth Russell and Edith Rebecca (Thompson) Lett. He graduated from the Anita High School in 1965. In April of 1966, Mike joined the US Army where he served until March of 1968. Mike married Kathleen Buboltz October 9, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic, Iowa. After 14 years driving a truck for Schildberg Construction Mike retired in 2013. He was a member of the First United Methodist church in Atlantic and the American Legion Post #210 in Anita. Mike was an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and loved watching them play sports. He thoroughly enjoyed the round table discussions at Hy-Vee with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Russell and Edith Rebecca Lett; his parents-in-law, Don and Zola Buboltz; brother-in-law, Larry Buboltz; sister-in-law, Julie Carey; and a great-nephew, Nicholas Buboltz. Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy Lett of Atlantic, IA; sons, Jeremy (Tracey) Lett of Anita, IA, and Jason Lett and Tanya Essington of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Jamie Madden and his fiancé, Hope Bowker of Atlantic, IA, KLani Waters of Ankeny, IA, Jazzlynn Waters of Anita, IA and Jozie Lett and friend, Preston Murphy of Anita, IA; great-grandchildren, Alina, Keagan, Naivey and Nora Madden; sisters-in-law, Betty (Kenneth) Hopkins of Brentwood, CA and Judy (Ron) Ring of Neola, IA; brothers-in-law, Mike (Karen) Carey of Camdenton, MO and Jeff (Eve) Buboltz of Lewis, IA; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation with family will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa. Inurnment will be in the Oakhill Cemetery in Brayton, Iowa, at a later date.
