He was surrounded by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Kay (Medici) Manning, his adoring sons, Dean Michael Manning (Jodi) of Larkspur, California, Cory Edward Manning (Tina Cundari), of Columbia, South Carolina, and his faithful dog, Charlie. In his final days, Mike was visited by countless family members and friends who loved him and whose lives he touched. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 7, 1947, Mike was the eldest of eleven children born to Normie and the late Jack Manning of Granger, Iowa. He was a loyal and caring brother to his siblings Matt Manning (Sharon), Sue Manning, Marty Manning (deceased), Jackie Manning, Bob Manning (Linda), Jan Manning, Mary Cicciarelli (Jim), Joe Manning (deceased), Frank Manning (Ann Stine), and Barbie Harney (Donny). Mike's family also includes many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.Upon graduation from Assumption High School, Mike was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He worked at John Deere, Standard Forwarding, owned K & K Trucking, Highway Mail, and Manning Transfer. Mike retired from Standard Forwarding as a Teamster after 25 years of service. In his retirement, he worked for a brief period of time at Bob Brown Truck Center. Mike never met a stranger and accepted people from all walks of life. He had an unbridled enthusiasm for life, a tireless work ethic, and a fierce sense of commitment to his family and friends. Mike loved cars, road trips, navigation, and telling stories. In addition to his wife and sons, Mike's greatest joy was his grandchildren, Maxwell Manning (13) and Jillian Manning (10).
