Read More	The Columbus Daily Telegram, November 3, 1932, p. 3, col. 3 & 4 Michael Opella Dies – Michael Opella, 54, 1607 Sixth street, died of pneumonia at 4:30 a.m. today at St. Mary’s hospital, where he had been a patient the last three weeks. He had been in gradually failing health for the past two months, but his condition did not become serious until a few days before he was removed to the hospital. He was born near Duncan on Sept. 29, 1878, and when a small child moved with his parents to a farm near Genoa, where he spent his boyhood. On May 4, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Sokol. They established their home on a farm six miles southwest of Genoa, where they resided for a number of years, later locating on a farm near Lindsay. In January 1926, they retired from agricultural pursuits and moved to Columbus, where they have since made their home. Mr. Opella was employed for three years on the section of the Burlington railroad and for the last two years worked as a teamster about the city. He is survived by his widow, 12 children and three grandchildren. The seven sons and five daughters are John, Edward and Louis, of Omaha, Joseph, Minnie, Viola, Helen, Philip, Michael, Loretta, Irene and Leonard, of Columbus, who will all be here for the funeral. Mr. Opella is also survived by his mother, Mrs. George Opella of Genoa; six brothers and five sisters, Frank Opella and Mrs. Anton Fleece, of Sutherland; John, Joseph, George, Henry and Steve Opella, Miss Josephine Opella and Mrs. John Prososki, all of Genoa; Mrs. John Cautzer, of Osceola; Mrs. Joseph Slizoske, of Lindsay. Mr. Opella was a devout member of St. Anthony’s Catholic church, where funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Fr. Casimir, the pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral home until the hour of the services Saturday morning. ____ November 5, 1932, p. 8, col. 3 Funeral of Mr. Opella – The funeral of Michael Opella, 54, 1607 Sixth street, who died Thursday morning were held at 9 a.m. today at St. Anthony’s church. Rev. Fr. Casimir, pastor, conducted the last rites, and officiated at the brief service at the grave. The pallbearers were Joe Bona, Martin Zakreski, Pete Uryasz, Andrew Shefcik, Tony Sokol and John Sokol. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.
