St. Paul, NE Wednesday 10 April 1935 p. 1 Michael Greenwalt(sic) Passed to Reward Friday Funeral Services Held in St. Paul Monday Morning: Interment at St. Libory Cemetery Suffered Long Illness Michael Grenwalt, for a number of years a resident of this city, passed away at his home on Friday, April 5, 1935, following a long illness. He was able to be up an about the greater part of the time for a number of years, altho his health was very poor. For the past two or three weeks he has been unable to be about and he passed quietly to his home in heaven last week. Michael Grenwalt was born on November 18, 1858, in West Prussia, Germany, and died at his home in St. Paul on April 5, 1935, at 11 p.m. aged 76 years, 4 months and 17 days. He came to America in 1875 when at the age of 17 years. His father died when he was still a small child and he emigrated to this country alone. He stayed two years in Pennsylvania, one year in Canton, Ohio, and one and one-half years in Michigan. He then came to Nebraska in 1896 and homesteaded a farm five miles west of St. Libory, living there until 1919, removing then to St. Paul. He was married to Miss Mary Schuda. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Teckla Golka, who passed away at Ord in 1930, and Mrs. Christine Derezenski, of Leavenworth, Kansas. Mrs. Grenwalt died and he was married to Mary Dorozenski. To this union ten children. They are Mrs. Francis Szdloski, Happy, Texas; Mrs. Katie Schlonga, Camden, Mo.; Venerable Sister Lucinda, stationed at Humphrey; John at St. Libory, felix, Oconto; Mrs. Victoria Grayek, St. Paul; Mrs. rose Steinbach and Frank, of St. Libory. Besides these, twin sons died in infancy. Twenty-six grandchildren and two great grandchildren are left to mourn his passing. Mrs. Grenwalt passed away Dec. 2, 1925. The funeral was held on Monday morning, from the Catholic church, in this city, the Rev. John Gleeson having charge of the services. A number of old friends and neighbors from St. Libory joined with his friends in this community in attending the service and paying their last respects to his memory. All of the children were here for the funeral except Mrs. Francis Szydloski and Mrs. Katie Schlonga. following the conclusion of the services at the church the remains were taken to St. Libory where they were interred in the Grenwalt lot along side of his wife who preceded him in death. Four old friends and neighbors, W. F. O'Neill, Conrad Arends, John Smith and John Jansen, of St. Libory and F. T. Shaughnessy and J. F. Webster of this city, served as pall bearers. The Many friends of the family will join with us in extending condolence and sympathy to them in their bereavement. ---------- Card of Thanks We take this means of thanking the friends and neighbors for their kindness and assistance during the illness and following the death of our beloved father, Michael Grenwalt. Especially do we wish to thank the Rev. Father Gleensen, the Rev. Father Hinzmann, the choir and each and every one who so ably assisted us. Never will we forget your kindness.
