Mr. O’Rourke was born in Lawler January 15, 1869, the son of the late Michael and Margaret O’Rourke. Mr. O’Rourke was born in Lawler January 15, 1869, the son of the late Michael and Margaret O’Rourke. He received his education in the rural schools and grew to manhood on the O’Rourke homestead north of Lawler. In January, 1894, he was married to Marie Schmidt at Wyoming, Minnesota. After their marriage they went to housekeeping at Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, where they lived eight years, later moving to St. Paul, Minnesota. The last 25 years, he made his home at Mason City. Mr. O’Rourke is survived by two sons, George and Lewis O’Rourke, both of St. Paul, Minnesota and one daughter, Genève, she preceded him in death six months ago. His parents, one daughter, three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Murray, Mrs. Hannah Murray and Mrs. Pete Reilly and three brothers, Tom, Will and John O’Rourke preceded him in death. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He was an honest, hard working man and was well liked and respected. The funeral was at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church, Rev. A. A. McAvoy read the mass; burial in Mt. Carmel cemetery. No gravestone found. Michael O'Rourke died at his home in Mason City, Iowa on January 28, 1942; born the son of Michael and Margaret (Madden) O'Rourke at Lawler, Iowa on January 15, 1869. He first married Katie Buckley in June 23, 1891 in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Katie died in 1892. He then married Marie Schmidt at Wyoming, Minnesota in January 1894. They lived in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota for eight years before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota. They had two sons, George and Lewis and one daughter, Geneve O'Rourke who died in 1941. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. His funeral took place at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
