Michael Patrick Lynch was born in Webster City, Iowa, on June 25, 1945, the son of Wilbur and Lucile (McCoy) Lynch. He graduated from United Community High School in 1963. Michael Patrick Lynch was born in Webster City, Iowa, on June 25, 1945, the son of Wilbur and Lucile (McCoy) Lynch. He graduated from United Community High School in 1963. Mike married Joyce McCracken in 1965 and the couple had four children, Dennis, Mike, Wayne, and Michelle, before divorcing. He later married Marilyn Jean Redding in Las Vegas, Nevada, 37 years ago and had one child together, James. Mike farmed in Boone and Story counties. He also owned and operated Lynch Auction Company. He was Charter Member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ames, a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Ames, Farm Bureau, Boone County Pork Producers, Boone County Swine Committee, and he was a 4-H leader. Mike enjoyed going to auctions, classic car and antique shows, watching old westerns on tv, and ISU sports. He also liked to hunt deer, grow vegetables such as tomatoes, sweet corn, and watermelons, and he especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren’s activities. Mike also enjoyed watching his grandchildren show hogs. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2013, and a stepson Keith Patterson. He is survived by four sons: James and wife Laura, of Ankeny, Mike W. of Ames, Dennis of Ames, and Wayne and wife Julie of Boone; a daughter Michelle Lynch of Aurora, Colorado; a sister Janice Warren-Catlin and husband Charlie of Roseville, California; five grandchildren, Dustin (wife Natalie), Halle, Brennan, Zachary, and Nathan, with two more grandsons on the way in March. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in campus town in Ames with Rev. Jon Seda officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, northwest of Gilbert. Obituary & photo published by Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone
