Sandbothe, 92 Dec. 4,1900 - Feb. 20,1993 EARLING — Michael Peter Sandbothe, son of Libiorius and Anna (Hoffman) Sandbothe, was born Dec, 4, 1900 at Koeltztown, MO. He died at the Little Flower Haven Nursing Home in Earling, Feb. 20, 1993, at age 92 years, 2 months and 16 days. He was baptized, received his First Communion and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown. Nov. 27, 1928, he married Kathryn Foxhoven in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling. One daughter, Rita, was born to this union. After their marriage, they made their home at Freeburg, MO., where he operated a sawmill. They later moved to Earling, where they lived for a short time before moving to a farm near Portsmouth. They retired from the farm in 1974 and moved into Portsmouth. He was active in his church working as the custodian for over 25 years. In addition to his membership in St. Mary's Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Earling Council No. 1741 Knights of Columbus. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in November of 1978. After Katie died June 7, 1979, he continued to make his home in Portsmouth until he became a resident of the Little Flower Haven Nursing Home in Earling. This has been his home since that time. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita and his four brothers, Stephen, Joseph, Ludwig and Vincent. He is survived by two sisters, Kunegunda Pauley of Co. Bluffs; and Josephine Skalla of Chandler, AZ.; nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated Feb. 22, 1993 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth with Rev. Mike McLaughlin celebrant and Msgr. Michael W. Schwarte concelebrating assisted by Rev. Mr. Pat Davitt. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery in Portsmouth with Leo Foxhoven, Dan Fuhs, John Peterson, Vernon Sandbothe, Mike Sandbothe and Russell Sandbothe casketbearers.
