Description	:	Michael "Mike" Mildenberger, 90, of Iliff, died on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000 at Eben Ezer Living Center in Brush. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Tennant Funeral Home. A vigil and recitation of the rosary will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Tennant. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. James Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Mildenberger was born on April, 12, 1910 to Joseph and Katharina (Mueller) Mildengerger in the Volga Region village of Marianfeldt, Russia. In September 1921, Mike and his mother, sister, and 16 other relatives traveled to. Frankfurt, Germany where they lived in a Red Cross Refugee Camp until July 28, 1923. The family then came to the United States, where they were reuntied with his father in Iliff, after a 12-year separation. He attended Iliff School for three years, then at the age of 15, went to work on the Jim Talbott ranch. During the winter he hauled gravel with a team of horses and wagon to help build county roads in the Iliff area. On Nov. 21 1932 he married Marcella Younger in St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Iliff. Mr. Mildenberger was awarded his U.S. Naturalizaion Papers on May 1, 1934. He held many jobs in the Iliff and Proctor areas. In 1935, he went to work as a section hand for the U.P. Railroad. He farmed in the Iliff area and also worked sugar beets for other farmers. He drove school buses for Iliff School. He also worked as a janitor at the school from 1951 to 1953. He worked for Harry Probst for 11 years, first as a hod carrier and then as a bricklayer. In 1964, he and his sons went into the bricklaying business. He retired.. in 1973 from his last job as a cattle pen hand for the Ceres Land Company. Mr. Mildenberger is surived by three daughters, Norma Wolfe and husband Ted of Brush, Dorothy Stillman and husband Willard of Denver, and Mary Wilson of Evans; two sons, Gerry Mildenberger and wife Kathy of Sterling, and Kenneth Mildenberger and wife Judy of Berthoud; one sister, Filomena Ann Suppes of Brighton; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Miriam "Peggy" Behrendson of Brush. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcella in 1981; one daughter, JoAnn Benway, one son, Robert Mildenberger, and one granddaughter, Ashley Marie Mildenberger.
