Read More	Harlan Tribune Harlan, Iowa Tuesday July 17, 1990 page 6A Michael Atkinson, 37 HARLAN - Michael Ray Atkinson, the son of Floyd and Angelia (Donahue) Atkinson, was born Feb. 16, 1953, at Creston. He died June 30, 1990, as the result of a car accident four miles south of Elk Horn, at age 37 years, four months and 14 days. As a small boy, he moved with his parents to Marian and graduated from H.C.H.S. with the class of 1972. June 23, 1973, he married Valli Bacon at Harlan. Two children were born to this union. He worked for several years as an independent trucker, and at the time of his death, was employed by Farm Service Co-op transporting agricultural related products. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, and the Classic Glass Corvette Club of Carroll. Surviving him in addition to his wife, Valli of Harlan; is his daughter, Shannon and his son, Marty, both at home in Harlan; his parents, Floyd Atkinsons of Harlan; three sisters, Lorelei (Kenneth) Martin and Dorothy (Richard) Barnett both of Oskaloosa; and Barbara Jo (Kenneth) Hansen of Kimballton; and a brother, Robert of North Liberty and other relatives. Memorial services were held Jury 3, 1990 at Pauley Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Brayman of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Terry Clay, Ron Taylor, Greg Carlisle, Gary McClure, Lyle Campbell, Tom Murtaugh, David Jacobsen, Andy Rasmussen and Dale Hemminger serving as honorary casketbearers.
