Schumacher of Pleasant Valley township, died in Milwaukee Tuesday. His remains are being brought to Carroll by his brother, who was with him at the time of his death. Feb 12, 1925 - Carroll Times - The following obituary of Michael Schumacher has been handed The Times for publication: Michael Schumacher, who died in a hospital in Milwaukee on January 28 was a son of the late Nicholas and Anna Mary Schumacher, the father dying in Grant township on June 20, 1893, and the mother following in death on October 17 of the same year. Michael was born September 14, 1870, in Germany, and on May 3, 1873, the family landed in Carroll county, and took up farming in Roselle township, and later moved into Grant township. Michael was at home up to the time of the death of his parents, after which he decided to go west. He spent five years in Idaho, and then went to Edmonton, Canada, where he worked for 14 years. In 1918 he came back to Iowa and in 1922 he went to Milwaukee where he found employment in the Chalmers Manufacturing company's plant, where he was very much liked by all. His last letter to his sister, Mrs. Charles Irlbeck, was but a few lines saying that he was going to the hospital, being a very sick man, but not to worry in case he should die as there was a priest near by. His brother, M.J. Schumacher of Pleasant Valley township, was with him at the time of his death, and found him well prepared and ready to leave this world. He died at 12:15 a.m, January 28. He was never married. He leaves two brothers, M.J. of Pleasant Valley and Peter of Council Bluffs, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Irlbeck of Maple River and Mrs. Elizabeth Schaeffer of Sioux City, to mourn his departure.
