Description	:	Michelle A. Slater - Age 51 Michelle Ann Slater was born on April 10, 1957 to Gerald and Velma (Bushkamp) Bruck in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa, and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School before graduating from Dunlap Community Schools. Slater - Age 51 Michelle Ann Slater was born on April 10, 1957 to Gerald and Velma (Bushkamp) Bruck in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa, and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School before graduating from Dunlap Community Schools. She attended Iowa Western Community College and received her Associate’s Degree as an Administrative Secretary. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa sorority while in college. Michelle was united in marriage on November 13, 1976 to Curt Slater at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. Four daughters were born to this union: Christina, Amber, Megan, and Anne. She was in charge of property management and logistics for Alegent Health Systems in Omaha, Nebraska and worked there for ten years. She loved music and played the piano and guitar. Her favorite times were camping with her family at Yellow Smoke in Denison and being on the pit crews for the racing circuits in Harlan, Audubon, and Denison. Michelle died on Friday, December 26, 2008, having attained the age of fifty-one years, eight months, and sixteen days. She was preceded in death by her sister Karen Hill. She is survived by her husband Curt Slater of Defiance, Iowa; her daughters: Christina and her husband Mike Roush of Harlan, Iowa, Amber Slater of Defiance, Megan Slater of Denison, Iowa, and Anne Slater of Defiance; eight grandchildren; her parents Gerald and Velma Bruck of Earling, Iowa; her brothers and sisters: Jody Bruck of Harlan, Jerry Bruck and his wife Aline of Harlan, Colleen Spinler of Clarinda, Iowa, Vernon Bruck and his wife Pat of Denison, and Robin Bruck of Denison; nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, with Rev. Tom Coenen celebrating the 10:30 AM service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. Serving as casket bearers were Terry Goetz, Gary Mulbauer, Randal Coenen, Bud Bieker, John Fromm, and Denny Doerr with Lou Hall serving as honorary casket bearer. Interment was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Defiance, Iowa.
