The funeral service will be Monday, July 25, 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M. Loseke was born on February 7, 1922 in Platte County, Nebraska, on the day her parents moved to her present farmstead home to William and Olga (Lutjens) Schoen. Mila grew up on that farm north of Oconee and attended Dist. #11 rural elementary school. She graduated from Platte Center High School in 1940 and attended and graduated from Business School in Omaha, NE after which she taught business school in Columbus for a short time before working at Consumers Public Power District. Mila married Willis R. Loseke at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, NE on September 20, 1945. They farmed in the Monroe and Platte Center areas all their lives. Mila was a past Leader of the Little-Thimbles 4-H Club, member of the Harmony Home Extension Club and officer of the Platte County Extension Council. Mila was a helper at the Platte County Fair in 4-H and Open Class. Mila was an officer and committee member that helped arrange many of the yearly reunions of the Platte Center High School. Mila was honored for her over 30 year service as teacher and Superintendent of the 5th/6th Grade Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Trinity Lutheran Church and was also a hearty contributor to the LWR Quilt Makers for missions. Mila enjoyed getting up early to do farming, gardening and mowing lawn, sewing, making quilts, cooking and caring for her family. Her whole life Mila would rather sew then sit still. She and Willis enjoyed many years of dancing to big band music. Any workers around the farm always knew they could count on Mila having cookies or cake ready for break time and she would always ask, "Will they be staying for dinner"? For the last 3 1/2 years Mila has resided at Cottonwood House where she was cared for by a devoted and loving family of staff members and residents. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, or donor's/family choice. Mila is survived by: Daughter and Son-In Law: Deborah (David) Svoboda - Columbus, NE Mila was preceded in death by: Husband: Willis R. Loseke (d. April 19, 2001) Father: William Schoen (d. Feb 29, 1964) Mother: Olga (Lutjens) Schoen (d. Feb 3, 1977) Brother: Lt. Victor Schoen (d. Feb 25, 1960) Brother: Carroll Schoen (d. Jan 21, 1974)
