Milbert was born July 29, 1923, to Jacob and Caroline (Walth) Lammle at Hosmer, S.D. He attended grade school and graduated from Hosmer High School in 1942. Following graduation he attended a course in telegraph and station accounting at Mina, S.D. On Dec. 19, 1942, he began working for Milwaukee Road Railroad. He married Elizabeth Meier in 1944. Milbert continued to work for the railroad. He had been at Westport, S.D., Mina, S.D., Faulkton, S.D., Hague, N.D., Hillsview, S.D., Hosmer, S.D., Aberdeen, S.D., and finally, Roscoe, S.D. In all, Milbert worked for the railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1980. Elizabeth died June 19, 1999. Shorty took up taxidermy by taking a course in it in 1957. Much of his work is still displayed today by area sportsmen. Shorty also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping in his spare time. He also had constructed a model railroad in his basement. Shorty was an active member of the Roscoe community. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, past school board member, past city councilman, had served on the fire department, was a member of the Roscoe Rod and Gun Club and had served as a Municipal Magistrate in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Memories of Shorty live on with his two daughters, Carolyn (Fred) Seitsinger of Watertown, S.D., and Marilyn (Clark) Overbey of Aberdeen, S.D., and his son, Thomas Allen (Judy) Lammle of Moses Lake, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and close friends. His parents, three brothers, Reinie, Joe, Ervin, and one sister, Mathilda preceded him in death. Funeral Arrangements by Gramm-Hein Funeral Home, Ipswich, S.D.
